Thailand coup

The coup last night in Thailand certainly raised a few eyebrows here at home, and I laterally mean here at home! A friend of ours son is currently on holiday in Thailand. One wonders how fickle the armies of nations can be and how the allegiance of those who wield can shift. These age old issues of power; corruption and money are still the driving forces behind coups. The real issues of democracy, poverty and hardship never seem to catapult these into the political arena. Why is that? Or is that too naive a notion?
